8 New Romantic Hindi Songs That Prove 2018 is the Year of Love

Some of the most inspiring and beautiful songs are on the subject of love — and this year has produced more than its fair share of romantic hits.

Tunes like “Aa Jao Na,” “Tera Yaar Hoon Main,” “Tera Fitoor,” and “Dil Ki Baaton Mein” continue to dominate Bollywood fans’ lists of their top romantic songs. But those aren’t the only Bollywood gems that emerged this year. Here’s our rundown of 2018’s latest romantic hits.

When it was announced that Dharma Productions had acquired the rights to remake the Marathi superhit film Sairat, many wondered what the songs of the new film would sound and feel like. Well, Amitabh Bhattacharya’s captivating words for “Dhadak Title Track” won our hearts. Within a few hours of its release, the title track of Dhadak became an instant hit online, with celebrities going gaga over the soulful vocals by Ajay Gogavale and Shreya Ghoshal. Listeners appreciated the way in which the song captured the unconventional love story of the two main characters.

The sensuous romantic track from Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju, “Mujhe Chaand Pe Le Chalo” is here to turn up the temperature. The music for the song was composed by A.R. Rahman, featuring the lush and passionate voice of Nikhita Gandhi. This breezy number features Karishma Tanna in a pink nightdress, and portrays the storyline of Kapoor’s character jumping at an opportunity to pursue his best friend’s girlfriend.

Ishq Di Baajiyaan” from Soorma

The romantic track from Diljit Dosanjh’s Soorma was penned by Gulzar to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s music. The stirring song features Taapsee Pannu and Diljit expressing their love and devotion in a subtle and graceful way. “Ishq Di Baajiyaan” beautifully showcases the true nature of love and relationships, when the lovers dwell in unspoken feelings. This is not the first Bollywood film song for which Diljit has performed; his songs like “Move Your Lakk” and “Ikk Kudi – Reprised Version” were appreciated by fans and critics alike.

Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 2 was filled with action sequences, but the filmmakers also included a beautiful romantic track to lighten the mood. What better singer to fill our hearts with love than everyone’s favorite, Atif Aslam. Portraying the softer side of the lead character, “O Saathi” chronicles the romantic journey he once experienced with his love interest. Featuring Shroff and Disha Patani, the track’s lyrics are written by Arko, who is also gathering fame for his other recent hits like “Naino Se Baandhi,” “Bolte Parini,” and “Tere Jaisa.

“Sanu Ek Pal Chain” was recently recreated by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, for Raid, starring Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’Cruz. The original song was sung by his uncle, the renowned Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and has remained in the hearts of millions of listeners for years. This new rendition definitely continued the original’s legacy. The track beautifully captures the emotions of the characters, and Manoj Muntashir’s lyrics will echo in your heart.

Ek Dil Ek Jaan” from Padmaavat

Upon its release, Padmaavat’s “Ek Dil Ek Jaan” became an instant romantic chartbuster. The song depicted the romance between on-screen lovers Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
