April was a month of both celebration and loss for the world of international music. While artists like Kendrick Lamar, Zayn Malik, and The Weeknd scaled new heights, we were shocked and saddened to lose one of electronic music’s most uplifting talents. Our Month Review reflects the bittersweet events of April 2018.
Song of the Month
Zayn Malik – “Let Me”
Zayn has been at the top of his game in 2018, regularly featuring amongst our Top 10 international artists. His latest release, “Let Me”, hit 770k plays in its first week alone.
Album of the Month
The Weeknd – My Dear Melancholy
Abel Tesfaye’s EP — or ‘mini album,’ as it’s been referred to, was played over 300k times on the “weeknd” ? it was released.
Artist of the Month
On April 16th, Kendrick Lamar made history as the first non-Classical, non-Jazz artist to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music — the latest accolade for his 2017 magnum opus, DAMN.
This month, we lost the wonderful Tim Bergling. In the wake of his passing, we attempted to pay tribute to his work, and reflected upon what it meant to us. Rest in peace, Tim. You’ll live forever in our hearts.
